Tennis Team Getting Back in the Swing; Look to Take Title Back
The women’s tennis team is back in action, with over 35 girls on the team. The varsity team has four returning seniors and has also acquired some amazing new players.
The loss last season to Vista Del Largo cost the women’s tennis team league title for the first time in years, and is still fresh in the memories of the players and coach Maureen Barnett. The girls are very excited to see what the season has in store and believe they can work hard towards gaining back their title.
“I am honored and excited to have so many wonderful girls interested in being apart of the tennis team this year,” said Barnett. The team has a good mix of young talent and seasoned veterans and are expecting a successful season.
Whatever the result indicate in the win-loss column, players like senior Samantha Ford are still looking forward to what the season has in store.“ I’m really excited for this year because I will be able to grow closer to my best friends on the team,” said Ford. “It’s a little bittersweet because it’s my last year on the team and I have created some great memories here over the last couple of years.”
Records will be broken and friendships will be formed in the upcoming season. Senior Amy Langlois couldn’t agree more. “ This year will be the most memorable for me. I will make the most of my senior year on the court and will create many more memories that will never be forgotten.”
The league matches for tennis start Sept. 19.
