Seniors can audition to speak at the the 2025 graduation by participating in classroom competitions in their English class and then moving on to the schoolwide competition in May.
Speeches must be original and not longer than four minutes.
Seniors who do not have an English class must see English teacher Jeremy Oase in Room I-5 by the end of the school day on April 25.

Earth Week at Rio
Students can come to the stage during lunch this week make fish hats or practice composting to celebrate Earth Week.
These are a couple of the activities planned by seniors Katey Hickey and Charlotte Ponder, who planned the event for their Civitas senior project.
There is a photo contest with submissions due by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday. You can submit nature-themed images here. Prizes presented at lunch Friday include gift cards.
Also on Friday environmental groups will set up tables to talk to students about their work.
Rio Americano World Fair
The school’s World Fair will take place on campus after school on Tuesday, April 8.
Students representing the many cultures that make up Rio will share information, show their traditional dress and performances and offer free food.
