Over the summer, Rio Americano’s parking lot underwent a lot of changes. Some of these changes include 105 additional spaces, bigger spots and parking barriers. Most students seem to agree that the parking lot is easier to access and parking is more convenient.
“It’s good that there are more spots than last year,” senior Carter Hammett said. “It was a huge problem last year with there not being a lot of spaces.”
However, not everything about the new parking lot is positive. The school has also added fencing around the teacher parking lot. This has caused a lot of controversy amongst teachers in the portables.
“I don’t like the fact that I have to walk all the way around the fence,” economics and history teacher Christy Thomas said. “I also don’t like how many fences there are. I feel trapped.”
