Vaccines Offered to Students 12 and Older
Starting on May 19th, children who are 12 years old or older will be able to receive the COVID-19 vaccination through the San Juan Unified district. Students, families and staff are all encouraged to receive the vaccine.
The vaccine will be distributed at Encina Preparatory High School from the hours of 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Pfizer vaccine will be distributed at Encina, and the second dose will be distributed on Wednesday, June 9th.
An advisory committee to the CDC voted to recommend use of the Pfizer vaccine for children ages 12 to 15 after clinical trials demonstrated the vaccine is both safe and effective for adolescents.
Anyone who wants to acquire the vaccine on May 19th must schedule an appointment, visit www.sanjuan.edu/May19vaccine to schedule an appointment.
Anyone receiving the vaccine must sign a consent form and all participants who are 18 and younger must have a parent present and a copy of their health insurance card.

This is very exciting news! It is always very reassuring when the district is putting health high up on priorities for the students.

I was shocked when I saw that vaccines were being given out at my school, but I think it’s a good opportunity for kids that don’t have the time to get their vaccine outside of school to do it there.

I didn’t know that San Juan School District was distributing vaccines. I am really glad that the Mirada advertised this and gave resources to inform the public. Thank you!
