Century Arden 14 Offers New Experience
There is a new hang-out spot that students are enjoying in the Sacramento area, and that’s the new Century Arden 14 Theater. This new multiplex opened Dec. 1 and wows customers with it’s mid-century modern styled architecture and proves quite different than your typical movie theater.
The floors appear hardwood, giving it is sleek look. The muted green and blue paints create a relaxed ambiance, which is something quite different compared to the typical red carpeted look of previous theaters. Students experienced fond memories inside the the old Arden theaters that had their distinctive dome shaped buildings and when they were torn down, many locals felt a sense of nostalgia.
However, there was a sense of excitement to see the development of a new theater coming to Arden.
“I think it’s a great place for families and friends and offers so much more that the old theater did,” said junior Hannah Campbell. “You get such a more comfy and relaxing movie experience for the same price as the last theater.”
Customers can now also experience leather reclining seats, which seem to be a hit with many people. You have the choice to lay back and can arrange yourself however you feel comfortable.
The extremely large screens are an impressive feature that adds to the grandeur of the already unique movie-going experience. They even have the option of seeing a movie in the “XD” theater which allows for higher quality viewing.
The expanded concession stand offers foods that are unusual movie theater grub, such as pizza and hot dogs, so you may even get dinner while watching a movie. The new theater is located in the Howe Bout Arden shopping complex, which also features a newly built Nordstrom Rack and Home Goods, so there is not only an opportunity to see a movie, but there is also the chance to shop in the new stores right by there.
There is, however, some debate over the reserved seating arrangements.
“I think that it’s a good idea, but if you didn’t know you needed to reserve seats it can be kind of a pain,” said junior Sydney Sassman. “And it’s a bit overpriced.”
You go online and pick out where you would like to sit ahead of time, but that also means that the seats are booked fast, coupled with the fact the new theaters also has less space due to the reclining seats. If customers are looking for a quick movie, then it may be hard to accomplish that there.
However, if you are a planner and organize events ahead of time, then it’s a great way for you to be just where you want to. The theater follows the style and vibe: modern, clean, and fresh. This new Sacramento entertainment area should soon be a hit for many students.
