French food flourishes in Fair Oaks
Situated in the heart of quaint Old Fair Oaks Village, the bright green O Cafe restaurant is the perfect place to grab some fresh-baked pastries, a handcrafted coffee, or a delicious meal while watching the chickens roam the streets outside.
The interior of the restaurant is charming with unique decorations that create a warm, welcoming environment that blends the local Sacramento culture with the French inspirations for the cafe.
The nature of Fair Oaks and the nearby American River Parkway a highlighted by wood-paneled decorations, tall green plants, and various chicken statues lining the top shelves. The white brick walls contrasted with the bright red chairs create a cozy feeling reminiscent of brunch at Grandma’s house and local artists featured on paintings on the wall add a local flair to the decor.
Cafe tables and multiple pastry cases along the entire front of the restaurant tie in the French influences, and the hand-pressed coffee in tall glass containers give the restaurant a European feel.
The menu offers a wide variety of options for multiple meals, including breakfast and lunch options as well as desserts, pastries, and beverages.
The Eggs Benedict is a local breakfast favorite and comes with a hearty helping of greens and potatoes on the side and the omelets come with a variety of options for toppings and fillings, easily customizable to preferences and restrictions. For those with a sweet tooth, the french toast comes presented beautifully with seasonal fruit salad and yogurt with granola.
For lunch, there are multiple salad options with and without meat and sandwiches on french or focaccia bread, including the classic French Croque Madame sandwich. There are also a variety of gluten-free options, which come on a buckwheat crepe.
When it comes to price, the O Cafe is middle of the road. Portions are relatively generous, with the breakfast entrees averaging around $10 and lunch entrees averaging $10-12.
Their drinks run on the expensive side, I ordered a small chai latte which came to $4.40, but when combined with the affordable meal prices, it came to a reasonable price for a filling brunch meal.
The staff at the O Cafe is very friendly and the service was very prompt. They were accommodating of modifications to my order and gladly offered suggestions and answered all of my questions.
The cafe is open for takeout as well as dine-in on their outdoor patio, and now that Sacramento has entered the red tier, inside as well. All staff was masked and customers were required to wear masks when inside the building as well.

I loved how you described the cafe! I also liked how you included the price range because it’s always hard to distinguish with different restaurants.
